In 1969, Lula A. Wallace had a simple dream: to take care of her family while sharing good food with her community. With that dream, Lubi’s Hot Subs was born—a family-run restaurant built on love, tradition, and a whole lot of hard work.
From the very beginning, Lula listened to her customers and always tried something new. That’s how the “Original Lubi” came to life—a recipe she created with fresh ground sirloin, Kraft American cheese, and a special sub roll that you still can’t find anywhere else.
Over the years, our menu has grown and changed, but some things have stayed exactly the same. We still make our famous peppers the same way we did in 1969. We still chop onions fresh. And we still prepare homemade sides like cole slaw, potato salad, and macaroni salad, just like Lula did.
Some sandwiches—like the Camel Rider and our take on the Italian sub—have become staples, thanks to the people who’ve been with us since the beginning. Because at Lubi’s, it’s always been about family, food, and community.
For more than 50 years, Lubi’s Hot Subs has weathered the ups and downs of time. Through it all, one thing has never changed: we’re still keeping our brand true and our idea of a family operated restaurant, serving food made with love, and we’re grateful that you’re part of our story.
